Top 10 Page Optimization Tips

To get and maintain good ranking for you web pages - you simply following the following 10 rules:

  1. File Position
  2. Keyword Rich Content
  3. URL Name
  4. META Description Tag
  5. META Keyword Tag
  6. META Title Tag
  7. Image File Name
  8. Image ALT tag
  9. Header Tags
  10. Hyperlinks

File Position

Keep your file within 3 clicks from your Home Page

Keyword Rich Content

Each web page should have at least 350 words. Avoid images with all your text included - the SE can't read it.

Add keywords in the first paragraph [first 90 words] and the last paragraph [last 25 words], and in between to give a Keyword Density of 5-7%. Any more than that will be viewed as spamming.

Total Words ÷ Keywords= Keyword Density

Make keywords relevant to the page content.

Use 2-3 keyword phrases. Concentrate on one primary keyword and 2-3 secondary keywords per page.

URL Name

The file name is your URL address, and the first thing the SE look at. Make it keyword rich.

META Description Tags

Write a keyword rich Description tag, with your main keywords at the start of the sentence. Keep to around 20-25 words.

META Keyword Tags

Limit to around 20 targeted keywords that relate to the content on the page. Do not separate them by commas. This allows the SE to make up keyword phrases.

TITLE Tags

Only put keywords in the title tags, with the most important ones first.

Image File Names

Make your image files work for you by using keywords in the image file names.

Image ALT Tags

Alt tags are another good opportunity to add keywords.

Using graphics for bullets allows you to attach keywords to those also.

Header Tags

H1 - Only use ONE H1 Tag, and use your primary plus at least one secondary keyword.

H2 - use two or three H2 tags to include all your secondary keywords.

Don't stop at H1 and H2. Try to utilize all 6 heading tags on each page.

Hyperlinks

Make sure every page includes a hyperlink in the text to at least one other page on your site.

Make the link using 2-3 keyword phrases. Avoid the "..read more" type link.
